Methodology

Life Mentoring is a needs-assessment-first approach to people change management. Care is taken to understand the needs of the client and to assist the client to identify and articulate what they require. This approach facilitates tailoring the right kind of service to the specific needs of the client. For example, some clients may benefit from a psycho-educationally based group process. Others may be in need of a life coaching process. Yet others may need the support of a compassionate witness that allows them to be fully in their distress without being coerced to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

The methodology is shaped by some of the following principles:

  • Importance of an initial needs exploration

  • Psycho-Action not Psycho-Babble

  • Hands on/experiential learning

  • Validation of and building on the experience of people

  • Results and outcomes based

  • Thorough contracting procedures

  • The promotion of emotional literacy

  • An emphasis on personal transformation process
